How is GreatDomains related to Sedo?

GreatDomains is Sedo’s premier brand focused on high-quality domain names. The GreatDomains marketplace relies on Sedo’s technology for both its Premium Auction events and its Offer/Counter-offer Listings. In order to buy or sell domains on GreatDomains, you need to create a Sedo Account.
Can I use my existing Sedo Account at GreatDomains?

Yes. Because GreatDomains relies on Sedo’s technology you can use your Sedo account in order to buy or sell domain names on GreatDomains. There are no GreatDomains specific accounts.
How can I sell my domains through GreatDomains?

GreatDomains specializes in only the highest-quality domain names. Selling your domains on GreatDomains gives you exposure to motivated buyers worldwide who are only interested in the highest-quality domains. There are two options for selling your domains on GreatDomains: Premium Auction Event Listings or Offer/Counter-Offer Listings. To auction your premium domains at GreatDomains, you must first list the domains for sale on Sedo.com and apply for a Premium Auction Listing through Sedo’s Domain Management system. If you prefer to sell your domain through the traditional Offer/Counter-Offer system on GreatDomains you must list the domain for sale on Sedo.com and then apply for a Top Domains Listing on Sedo. If your application is accepted the domain will be listed on GreatDomains and will see a GreatDomains logo next to the domain in your Domain Management System at Sedo. What types of domains are offered on GreatDomains?

GreatDomains focuses on short, memorable, English .com and .net domain names and is reserved for only the most valuable, domain names available in the secondary market.
What are the criteria for a GreatDomains listing?

There are many factors that are taken into consideration when evaluating a domain name for a GreatDomains Listing. Domains meeting the following criteria are likely to be accepted for a GreatDomains Listing:

» The domain is short, a real word and is easy to remember
» It is a generic domain, e.g. like car.com, creditcard.com or books.com
» The domain is easy to spell and not prone to typographical errors
» The domain is product-related and therefore has a high commercial value
» The domain doesn’t violate any third party rights (e.g. trademark rights)
» The TLD geographically matches the language of the domain name
» The reserve price for the domain is reasonable

Because GreatDomains relies on Sedo’s leading technology for secondary domain market sales, you need to have a Sedo account in order to sell domains on GreatDomains. To submit your domain name for a GreatDomains listing you list the domain for sale at Sedo and then submit your application through Sedo’s Domain Management System. First check off the domains you wish to submit an application for and then choose the “Apply for a Premium Auction” option to be considered for a GreatDomains Premium Auction Event. For an Offer/Counter-Offer Listing, please chose the “Apply for a Top Domain Listing” option and hit “execute”.
How do I apply for a Premium Auction?

Great Domains relies on Sedo’s leading technology for secondary domain market sales. In order to auction your domain on GreatDomains you must have a Sedo account. Every month, GreatDomains will hold at least one Premium Auction Event featuring the finest domain names on the market. If you have a domain you would like to Auction with GreatDomains, please list the domain for sale at Sedo.com and then apply for a Premium Auction through the Domain Management system. Simply check off the domain or domains you wish to submit an application for and then change the drop down box at the bottom of the page to “Apply for a Premium Auction” and hit “execute”. Domain Names featured in GreatDomains Premium Auctions will be hand picked by Sedo’s expert brokerage team and aggressively marketed to a worldwide audience of motivated, pre-qualified buyers. You will be informed via email if your application has been accepted and the domain will have a GreatDomains logo next to it in your Domain Management system.
How much will it cost me to sell a domain through GreatDomains?

Listing domains on GreatDomains is absolutely FREE! There are no membership fees and you don’t have to pay to list your names. You will only have to pay our commission (normally 10%) if you make a successful sale. How much you will be required to pay depends on the TLD and whether your domains are parked with us. If your domains are parked with Sedo’s Parking Program, you will have to pay no minimum commission on the majority of TLDs. Commission is set at a flat 10%. If you domains are not parked with us, our commission is still 10% but for most TLDs, we charge a minimum of 50 $/€/£.
If I list a domain on GreatDomains, does it show up in Sedo’s search result as well?

Yes. GreatDomains relies on Sedo’s technology to facilitate sales of the world’s finest domain names. One of the advantages to listing your premium domain name on GreatDomains.com is that it simultaneously reaches the over 350,000 Sedo customers and receives exposure on the world’s leading domain marketplace, in addition domains featured on GreatDomains are aggressively marketed to domain investors and end users.
How can I purchase a domain through GreatDomains?

There are two types of listings for domains featured on GreatDomains: Premium Auction Event Listings and Offer/Counter-Offer Listings. Premium Auction Events are held once per month. Domains featured in a Premium Auction Event can be found on the GreatDomains homepage. You can also search for domains by keyword by using the search box on the GreatDomains homepage.
